Nienke Vrisekoop
Nienke Vrisekoop is Associate Professor in the Division of Heart & Lungs at UMC Utrecht and is affiliated with the Center for Translational Immunology. Her research combines advanced imaging and flow cytometry to quantitatively characterize complex biological particles and cells. She develops and applies innovative microscopy, image analysis, and cytometric approaches to study dynamic biological systems. She also heads the CTI Imaging Core Facility.
Within the ExpACT consortium, she is Work Package Lead for Innovative Analytical Techniques for Particle Characterization and Analysis. Her contribution focuses on extending quantitative single-particle analysis techniques to pollen, developing new methods to characterize and distinguish pollen species under controlled laboratory conditions. These methods will subsequently be implemented using a portable flow cytometer to enable field-based monitoring of pollen populations at a living lab location.
"I want to enable real-time pollen monitoring by bringing laboratory analysis into the field"
