ExpACT receives funding for research on air pollution
8 november 2024
The ExpACT consortium has received funding for research on air pollution, one of the leading causes of disease in the Netherlands. The grant was awarded by NWO and is part of the Research on Routes by Consortia (ORC) programme of the Dutch National Research Agenda (NWA). ExpACT brings together an interdisciplinary team of experts from research institutes, societal partners, citizen initiatives, municipalities, provinces, ministries, and industry.
"To improve air quality in the Netherlands, we combine new measurement methods with an open dialogue between stakeholders."
Roel Vermeulen, project coordinator
There is a clear need for better technological methods to measure air quality. At the same time, it is becoming increasingly important to involve stakeholders in both the collection and analysis of air quality data. In this project, we focus on strategies to reduce our exposure to air pollutants. We do this by developing new measurement methods and by creating an open dialogue between different stakeholders.
The ExpACT consortium is led by Roel Vermeulen, professor of environmental epidemiology at Utrecht University, and consists of the following partners: AIREAS, ArboUnie, Cosanta B.V.
